Youth Researchers Wanted — Help Us Understand What Gets in the Way Community Development Halton, Just Be You, and Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre are teaming up, and we're looking for 3–5 young people from across Halton Region to join our project as youth researchers. Not as the people being studied. As the people leading and informing the studying. Here's what we are looking at: It's hard to be engaged in your community when you've got school, a job, family stuff, friends, and everything else competing for the same hours. It's harder when getting there costs money you don't have, or the place isn't accessible, or nobody ever told you these programs existed. And if you're not in school and not working right now, that information is nearly impossible to find. We are particularly interested in connecting with young people who may be less engaged with or connected to existing programs, community organizations, and support services, as your perspectives and insights are important to understanding the barriers youth may face. We recognize that youth voices are essential to this project and we want to ensure that young people with diverse experiences have an opportunity to contribute. Who: 3–5 youth from across Halton Region Time: about 20 hours over roughly 6 months — about 45 minutes a week Where: online, so you don't have to get anywhere Recognition: Honorariums will be available to recognize you for your time and contributions. There may also be additional opportunities to become involved in the research project.
