Embedded UI / Graphics Engineer

Design UI architecture and build animated interface for DevPet companion

You will design the UI architecture and build a polished animated interface for DevPet, a small animated desktop companion for developers. This involves creating character animations, state transitions, and integrating Git activity, build status, and notifications into the UI. The work runs on embedded displays like OLED, TFT, and e-paper with tight memory and performance constraints using C/C++ and embedded graphics libraries.

Why This Role?

Direct contribution to DevPet, a Tamagotchi-meets-build-monitor companion for developers

Key Responsibilities

  • Design embedded UI architecture for the DevPet application
  • Implement character animations and state transitions
  • Build sprite, bitmap, and font pipelines for embedded displays
  • Optimize rendering using dirty rectangles and partial redraws
  • Integrate Git activity, build status, and notifications into the UI
  • Evaluate display and hardware trade-offs for OLED, TFT, and e-paper

Requirements

  • Experience with C/C++ for embedded systems
  • Proficiency in embedded graphics libraries such as LVGL, U8g2, TFT_eSPI, or Adafruit GFX
  • Hands-on experience with OLED, TFT, or e-paper displays
  • Experience programming ESP32, STM32, AVR, Arduino, or similar MCUs
  • Background in rendering optimization techniques like partial refresh and dirty rectangles
