Our award-winning content and websites are created exclusively by us and directly for the use of millions of users worldwide. At Kodify, we're not just pushing boundaries in online entertainment—we're rewriting the script! Our goal is to empower our people with everything they need to pioneer innovation in our industry. Our culture is our secret sauce, and we're committed to preserving and enhancing it every step of the way. Join our crew, where the Kodify team is not just an asset, it's our crown jewel. We prioritize their growth and well-being above all else, ensuring they're set up for success and always inspired to deliver their best work. As a rapidly expanding company with diverse hubs across the globe and over 20 vibrant national cultures, working with us means embracing thrilling challenges tailor-made for a star Senior Data Engineer! At Kodify, data is at the heart of how we make decisions. From product and marketing to finance and operations, every team relies on trustworthy data delivered at the right time. We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help us raise the bar — building the pipelines, models, and platforms that turn raw events into reliable insight at scale. What will you do? You'll help to evolve a data platform that supports products serving close to 100M unique visitors a month. Design, build, and own robust data pipelines from source systems (Postgres, MongoDB, event streams, third-party APIs) into our warehouse. Architecture - Make pragmatic decisions about ingestion, storage, transformation, and serving layers, including our columnar/analytical serving layer. Balance speed, cost, and maintainability. Modeling - Drive our dbt project: structure, conventions, testing, documentation, and CI. Make it a platform other people love to contribute to. Semantic layer - Own and evolve our semantic layer so metrics are defined once, governed centrally, and consumed consistently across BI, product, and finance. Governance & lineage - Champion data cataloging, documentation, and end-to-end lineage so everyone can find, trust, and understand our data. Quality & Reliability - Own data quality end-to-end: tests, monitoring, alerting, lineage, and SLAs. If a dashboard is wrong, you care. Performance - Optimize warehouse and columnar query performance. Know where the bottlenecks are before stakeholders do. Collaborate with the BI team, Product, Development, Marketing, and Finance to understand what they need and translate it into clean, reusable data models. Mentor the wider BI/Data team — code reviews, pairing, raising the technical bar on SQL, dbt, Python, and engineering practices. Duties - Becoming a valued team member, providing feedback about tech, development lifecycle and processes. Take ownership of your code / task / role. Goal - Be proud of the data platform you help build, and be one of the driving forces behind always making it better. Where and when: From wherever you want, the position is fully remote in the EU. We're very flexible about when you get your work done, but we do have some core hours where we like to overlap in order to promote collaboration and low-latency communication between team members (10:00 to 15:00 CET/CEST). Our daily virtual stand-ups are important for us but other than that, you're free to manage your own time. What we offer: Fully remote position or, if preferred, working in our awesome Barcelona office! Agile environment Top-notch tech stack! Flexible working hours + core hours! 10% on top of your salary for learning and development - of your choice! Latest tech equipment - Macbook Pro Company Amazon book account! Modify off-sites, on-sites, events, and team activities! Amazing international team! 1 day off on your birthday Generous vacation and personal days 1 month paid sabbatical after 3 years Health & Wellness budget Senior-level experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or similar — you've done this before, at scale, and you can show it. Expert-level PostgreSQL — complex transformations, window functions, performance tuning, the lot. Hands-on production experience with a columnar/analytical database (ClickHouse strongly preferred; BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, or similar also relevant) — modeling for it, loading into it, and tuning queries against it. Solid building experience using AI - understanding AI harnessing best practices such as claude.md , hooks, skills, rules, mcps, plugins etc. Strong production experience with dbt — not just writing models, but structuring projects, testing strategy, macros, and CI/CD. Experience with a semantic/metrics layer (Cube.dev, dbt MetricFlow, LookML, or similar) — defining governed, reusable metrics. Experience with data cataloging, documentation, and lineage tooling (OpenMetadata, DataHub, or similar) — you treat discoverability and lineage as first-class, not an afterthought. Solid Python for data engineering — pipelines, scripting, APIs, data manipulation. Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB as source systems (replication, CDC, schema evolution, the realities of pulling data out of them). Experience designing and maintaining data warehouses and dimensional/analytical models. Comfort with Git, code review, and modern software engineering practices applied to data. Strong sense of ownership — you don't wait to be told something is broken. A team player who likes to help others and solve problems together. Experience of mentoring junior engineers Investigation of new technologies. Advocate of clean code and clean architecture — applied to data. Passionate about testing — data tests, unit tests, end-to-end checks. You have a real 'Can Do' work ethic - We are results-based, not clock-based! You love to have fun while you work! Nice to have: Docker AWS Experience with high-traffic / high-volume data environments Understanding of Agile principles Experience working remotely
