How to build it is largely your call. - Integrate with third-party and internal services through APIs, webhooks and events, and keep them working when the other side changes. - Work with other teams regularly. Answering their questions and helping them with billing is a big part of the job. - Review code and use your experience to influence how other people build things. - Keep the system up to date. - We revisit old code and processes often and prefer not to have unmaintained things around. WHAT WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED - You can explain a complex problem or a trade-off clearly, in writing and in conversation, and expect to defend your decisions when they are challenged. - You think in terms of architecture, how domains fit together and where the boundaries should be. - Strong PHP with a solid command of OOP and design patterns. - Hands-on experience with REST APIs, SQL, queues and event-driven systems. - You write unit and integration tests as a normal part of your work. - You have worked on a large system in production, ideally one you were on call for.
