Lead Design Engineer for Brand Operating System Development

About the role We are seeking a Lead Design Engineer to join our team at open session, working on an innovative design platform that ensures every creative workflow remains on-brand. This full-time contractor position is remote, offering a monthly compensation of $3-5K. You will collaborate directly with a founder who has experience building design systems at Google. The product is already designed and mocked; your role will be to bring it to life with precision and creativity. What you’ll deliver Develop pixel-accurate, responsive, and themed designs using React 19 and Next.js 16. Collaborate with a forward-deployed AI engineer to integrate designs from Figma and Paper to production. Wire FastAPI, Supabase, pgvector, and streaming AI chat (SSE). Own and extend a token-driven design system, utilizing React Aria, Storybook, and ensuring dark/light theme compatibility. Enhance the product with motion and uphold high accessibility standards. Requirements: Proven experience with production React, Next.js, and TypeScript. Strong background in building design systems at scale. Proficiency in Tailwind, tokens, and Figma. Experience with Supabase, pgvector, and CI/CD processes. Daily use of Claude Code. Adherence to WCAG accessibility standards.
