Ambrook helps American family-run businesses become more profitable and resilient. From volatile markets to climate shifts, independent operators face mounting pressure. While sustainable investments often yield the best long-term returns, they require financial clarity and capital that fragmented legacy systems can’t provide. We are rebuilding the financial infrastructure that real economy operators rely on. By replacing paperwork with modern tools for accounting, banking, and spending, Ambrook gives owners the data they need to prove viability to lenders and the next generation. We empower the stewards of land and labor to make confident investments in their future. We’re a Series B startup backed by Lachy Groom, Thrive Capital, Dylan Field, Thomson Reuters Ventures, Cameron Ventures, and leaders at Notion, Gusto, and Vercel. We’re looking for team members to help us untangle the intersection of American industry, climate, and the economy. THE OPPORTUNITY Ambrook is building a world-class team. As a growth engineer, you'll grow the business by increasing the pace of experimentation, enabling more small businesses to realize the full potential of Ambrook’s platform. You’ll partner with marketing, sales, product operations, and customer success to drive business outcomes across our funnel, applying a data-driven and systems-oriented approach to driving top line revenue growth. You’ll have an impact both by running self-driven experiments and by building systems that enable others to quickly iterate. We've been taking advantage of AI dev tooling since the beginning and we keep up with the bleeding edge. Engineers have the budget to try new tools and we optimize for portability, knowing that the state of the art is changing every day. We have plenty of opportunities to allow every engineer to ship much more while focusing on the really hard problems. We talk regularly about the impact that AI is having on us as people and balance marvel with a respect for our craft. WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WE CAN COUNT ON TO… - Own: The systems behind our growth surfaces (landing pages, activation flows, checkout, experiment infrastructure) and the operator-facing controls on top of them. - Teach: Experimental rigor and industry best practices for conversion, activation, and retention. - Learn: Ins and outs of building a fintech and climate tech company, including how real-economy producers evaluate, buy, and adopt software. - Improve: Experiment velocity across the company, by enabling others and setting an example with experiments you drive. OUR TECH STACK - Next.js / React application written in Typescript - Expo & React Native for mobile - Firestore, PostgreSQL & Google Cloud Storage at the data layer - Sanity for marketing content - Running on GCP - BigQuery & Hex for data insights WITHIN 1 MONTH YOU'LL… - Learn Ambrook's stack by shipping a standalone growth surface end to end, instrumented so we can read the result. - Map how growth, marketing, and commercial run experiments today, and share a technical note on where engineering may be a bottleneck. - Develop a deep intuition for our customers by joining discovery calls and feedback sessions with agricultural producers. - Contribute to Engineering team meetings and review code from peers. WITHIN 3 MONTHS YOU'LL… - Own a system, not just a launch. For example, you may build a system to personalize landing pages that operators manage independently, or an AI-powered lifecycle marketing engine. - Contribute across Ambrook’s product, building technical depth in payments, accounting, and more. - Partner directly with growth, marketing, and sales, project-managing your own work. - Champion strong user data hygiene, operational security, and privacy practices. WITHIN 6 MONTHS YOU'LL… - Productionize multiple successful growth systems across marketing, sales, activation, and retention. - Close the data loop, reporting out on the results from experiments you drove. - Get involved in hiring and growing the team by evaluating / interviewing candidates. - Write about what you built and what it unlocked in a post on Inside Ambrook https://ambrook.com/blog. We'll assess you on the systems you put in place and the experiment velocity you unlock, not on the volume of changes you ship. ABOUT YOU - 4+ years of software engineering experience shipping successful web applications at a high quality bar, and at least two working on growth problems. - Experimental thinking with data: an instinct for what is the experiment here, and how would we measure it before writing code. - Real experience with, and appetite for, cross-functional collaboration. - You unblock yourself. You spot where things get hung up across people and move them. - Product and design sense: not customer-facing charisma, but customer empathy. A feel for how someone reads and experiences our marketing and activation flows, lightweight copywriting, and the judgment to push back on copy or flow that won't land. - Humility & outcome-oriented. Not all of this work is glamorous; but all of it is impactful. - You keep up to date with the latest changes in AI tooling and think critically about how to apply them to your day to day. - Excited to build software that makes industries like agriculture more sustainable and profitable. - Bonus: Experience in agriculture. - Bonus: Experience building financial products. - Bonus: Experience with Typescript, React, React Native, Next.js, and/or a headless CMS like Sanity.
