Category Labs is building Monad, a high-performance, EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain with a live public mainnet. The team designs and builds step-function improvements over existing blockchain solutions, including a parallel-execution EVM, custom state database, and BFT consensus client. All software is developed in the open by systems engineers and researchers focused on decentralized technology frontier work.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop parallel-execution EVM software in C++ or Rust
- Build and maintain a custom state database for blockchain operations
- Implement and optimize a BFT consensus client for network security
- Contribute to open-source development of core blockchain infrastructure
- Design step-function improvements over existing blockchain solutions
- Collaborate with systems engineers and researchers on decentralized technology
Requirements
- Proficiency in C++ or Rust programming languages
- Experience with systems engineering or low-level software development
- Knowledge of blockchain technology or distributed systems
- Background in performance optimization or high-throughput systems
- Familiarity with consensus algorithms or network protocols
