The Platform for Peace and Humanity (PPH) is currently seeking a volunteer Project Coordinator (Peace Education) to work under the Mediterranean Programme. PPH engages in advocacy for sustainable peace education and human development as part of its mandate to promote, advance, and achieve sustainable international peace. In its engagement towards sustainable peace and social justice, PPH conducts research and policy analysis informed by local context, and mobilises stakeholders to build coalitions for positive change. Sustainable Peace Education is a core focus area for the Mediterranean Programme. The Project Coordinator for Peace Education will support the design and implementation of projects that integrates factors that promote sustainable peace in the education and youth sector in the Mediterranean Region informed by the needs identified at the local level. The volunteer will engage in research and analysis on sustainable peace education related-issues in the Mediterranean Region, outreach and engagement, and project design and coordination. The role combines analytical, operational and administrative tasks to support project development and implementation. Deadline to apply: 6 September 2026 Start date: ASAP Duration: minimum 12 months, including a one-month probationary period Location: Home office (remote) Time commitment: 5-10 h/week, flexible work hours Duties and responsibilities: a) Research and Analysis: i. Conduct research, data collection and analysis on sustainable peace education initiatives and policy frameworks in the Mediterranean Region; ii. Contribute to various publications as mutually agreed with the Programme Director and other Platform staff. b) Outreach and Engagement: i. Initiate contact with relevant interlocutors in the Mediterranean Region such as civil society organisations, universities, international organisations, experts, donors, etc. and identify funding opportunities and potential partnerships; ii. Collaborate closely with the Programme Director and other Platform staff towards the development of partnerships and resource mobilisation. c) Project design, development and management : i. Design and develop projects/activities with significance for the Programme; ii. Support the implementation of projects according to approved donor proposals and Programme strategies. Minimum Requirements: o A solid understanding of the Mediterranean Region, including the socio- political context and human rights issues; o A university degree in peace studies, education, political science, human rights, or in a related field, with demonstrated experience in research and/or project coordination; o Five to seven years of work experience in peace education and/or peacebuilding; o Project management skills including budget development; o Stakeholder engagement and resource mobilisation; o Experience in drafting policy-oriented content, high-quality strategic documents based on scientific sources in the context of education, peacebuilding and/or human rights; o Fluency in English; o Strong communication and inter-personal skills, and experience in building effective relationships in an international multicultural context; o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Teams) and Google Workspace; o Demonstrated passion and dedication to the mission and values of the Platform. Desirable qualifications: o Fluency in French or Arabic; o Existing networks in the Mediterranean Region.
