Join Lighthouse Relief’s Communications and Fundraising Team to help sustain vital psychosocial support and sport programmes for people seeking refuge in Greece. Lighthouse Relief (LHR) fills gaps in humanitarian support for people seeking refuge - we have been supporting refugees and asylum seekers in Greece for eleven years. Initially, we provided an emergency shoreline response on Lesvos, and more recently we have delivered psychosocial support in Athens and sports programmes for children and young adults living in mainland refugee camps. We are an independent non-profit organisation registered in Sweden with no political or religious affiliation. In this role you will research grant opportunities, support donor outreach, and assist in developing fundraising campaigns such as Giving Tuesday. This remote volunteer role offers hands-on experience in NGO fundraising, communications, and partnership development. Ideal for someone passionate about human rights, advocacy, and community-led impact. Applicants should be familiar with the migration context in Greece and more widely in Europe. Key Responsibilities ● Identify funding opportunities and maintain an overview of institutional potential donors; ● Draft and edit grant proposals and funding applications; ● Support donor acquisition campaigns and outreach activities; ● Contribute to the development of sustainable partnerships to enable new projects; ● Assist the Communications Coordinator in relevant aspects of Lighthouse Relief’s communications and advocacy related to fundraising activities; ● Maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders and fundraising groups, including attending regular meetings re: fundraising collaborations. Reports to: Head of Communications, Fundraising Committee Requirements ● Previous experience in fundraising is required; especially experience with researching institutional donors; writing Letters of Inquiry to prospective funders; and completing grant applications; ● Strong commitment to our vision of a world where human rights are protected, in which the dignity of all people seeking refuge is honored and upheld. ● Motivation to empower people seeking refuge and facilitate opportunities for their self-determination; ● Initiative, ability to work independently, and strong communication skills; ● Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills; ● Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset; ● Experience working on social media, in advertising or business management is an asset; ● Excellent writing skills in English; proficiency in other languages is an asset. Minimum commitment: two day per week for three months. Availability to attend virtual meetings during the European working day.
