Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and new business initiatives
- Research, analyze, and document technical accounting conclusions for non-standard transactions in position papers
- Own Purchase Price Accounting for current and future M&A transactions
- Manage the financial reporting process ensuring compliance with US GAAP and management reporting requirements
- Prepare and own annual audited financial statements and footnotes, helping manage the annual audit with external auditors
- Oversee the end-to-end financial reporting process for GAAP financials and prepare financial packages for quarterly debt covenant reporting
Requirements
- Expertise in technical accounting and complex transaction accounting
- Experience with Purchase Price Accounting for M&A transactions
- Knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting compliance
- Experience preparing audited financial statements and footnotes
- Background in managing debt accounting and equity administration
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Corporate Development, Tax, and external auditors

You are the expert we turn to before deals close to provide guidance and ensure compliance. You’ll oversee technical accounting, lead external reporting, and manage the Equity function with one direct report (Equity Manager). What You Will Do - Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on technical accounting, offering proactive guidance on complex transactions, new business initiatives, and evolving accounting standards. - Research, analyze, and document technical accounting conclusions for non-standard transactions in position papers that meet auditor, lender, and board scrutiny. - Own Purchase Price Accounting for current and future M&A transactions. - Manage the financial reporting process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and management reporting requirements. - Prepare and own annual audited financial statements and footnotes. Help manage the annual audit in collaboration with external auditors. - Oversee the end-to-end financial reporting process for GAAP financials. Prepare financial packages for quarterly debt covenant reporting. Partner with FP&A to contribute to the Monthly Reporting Package for the board. - Own all accounting related to debt, including monthly entries, as well as accounting for new or modified debt transactions, from structuring through ongoing measurement and disclosure. - Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Corporate Development, Tax, and external auditors to assess accounting implications of strategic and technical transactions. - Manage and oversee the entire Equity process, including administration, accounting, and development of the Equity Manager. - Maintain a strong control environment around financial reporting. - Lead the Financial Reporting portion of our Maximor Implementation, driving automation and process improvements to streamline our financial reporting. What We’re Looking For - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting - Active CPA license or equivalent professional certification - 10+ years of combined public accounting and industry experience - Deep technical accounting expertise and strong knowledge of US GAAP and reporting requirements, including ASC 805 and stock-based compensation - Demonstrated ability to independently research, analyze, and document complex accounting issues - Strong executive presence with exceptional written and verbal communication skills - Experience in a SOX-compliant environment with a solid understanding of internal controls - Experience accounting for M&A transactions - Experience with accounting for corporate debt and credit agreements, including debt modification and extinguishment analysis - Ability to work on-site in Salt Lake City once a week OR ability to work remotely and travel in once a quarter Nice to Have - Hedge accounting experience - Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP - Experience with equity administration and Shareworks - Experience with Claude or other AI platforms Get in on all the awesome at Instructure!
