ABOUT LIVEKIT LiveKit is building the infrastructure layer for the voice-driven era of computing. Our platform gives developers everything they need to build, test, deploy, scale, and observe agents in production. Founded in 2021, LiveKit powers voice AI applications for OpenAI, xAI, Salesforce, Coursera, Spotify, and thousands of others, collectively facilitating billions of calls each year. ABOUT THIS ROLE Developer-first companies are allergic to marketing — which means our web work has to be so good it doesn't feel like marketing. That's the job. Most "design engineer" roles are really front-end roles with a nicer title: implement the mockup, close the ticket. This one isn't. We're rolling out a new brand identity, and we need someone to engineer it into existence — the components, the motion systems, the tooling that make a brand real instead of a PDF nobody opens. You're the kind of person who profiles an animation at 10pm because 60fps wasn't negotiable, who notices when an easing curve is wrong from across the room, and who thinks the gap between "looks like the design" and "feels alive" is where the actual work lives. You'll thrive as a Design Engineer if you: - obsess with crafting code that is fast, reliable and practical for the problem - are known as the go-to person for tackling tough technical problems - work hard and can build and ship fast - can clearly explain complex technical concepts to others - are a fast learner, frequently picking up new languages and tools The best way to impress us is with thoughtful Issues and/or PRs on our Github repos 😊 WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own the craft of livekit.com http://livekit.com — push the boundaries of what a developer-facing marketing site can be in motion, interaction, and performance - Engineer our new brand identity into a living system: components, motion patterns, and tooling that let the whole team ship on-brand work fast - Build launch pages, product pages, and campaign surfaces that hold an insanely high bar without slowing anyone down - Treat performance as a feature — rich experiences that stay fast, measured and defended with real budgets - Partner daily with brand designers, marketers, and the design engineering team to turn ambitious ideas into shipped web WHO YOU ARE - An exceptional front-end engineer with a portfolio of production web work that speaks for itself - Obsessive about detail — motion, interaction, and performance are your home turf, not checkboxes - Fluent in translating brand and design intent into reusable systems and components - Fast and self-directed — you ship polished work without waiting for perfect specs - A strong collaborator with designers — you elevate their ideas rather than flattening them into what's easy NICE TO HAVE - Experience at a developer-tools, API, or infrastructure company — you know why engineers distrust marketing and how to win them over - WebGL, shaders, or creative-coding chops for the moments that call for something nobody's seen before - Design system contributions — tokens, primitives, docs that other people actually used - Battle scars from making a rich site pass Core Web Vitals — and strong opinions about how - You have a folder of screen recordings of other people's website interactions, purely for study (we won't judge) OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU - An opportunity to build something truly impactful to the world - Contribute to open source alongside world-class engineers - Competitive salary and equity package - Health, dental, and vision benefits - Flexible vacation policy LiveKit is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any characteristic protected by applicable law.
