Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a finance-related field
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
  • Deep understanding of VAT principles including Place of Supply and Reverse Charge Mechanism
  • Accounting knowledge
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Vertex, or Sabrix

Job Description Summary As a VAT Analyst, you'll be responsible for ensuring the organization's indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions part within Electrification Segment supporting GE Vernova affiliates across numerous countries. This role involves accurate preparation and filing of VAT returns, management of tax data, and providing technical support to ensure operational processes align with global tax regulations. The ideal candidate acts as a subject matter expert, safeguarding the company against tax risks and optimizing indirect tax processes. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Collect, validate, and reconcile data to prepare and submit timely and accurate periodic VAT returns, Intrastat declarations, and EC Sales Lists. Ensure that all financial transactions are correctly coded in the ERP system to facilitate proper VAT treatment (e.g., proper tax codes for cross-border services, exports, and reverse charges). Perform monthly reconciliation of VAT accounts in the General Ledger to ensure that the tax reported matches the financial records. Coordinate the timely payment of VAT liabilities to various tax authorities to avoid penalties and interest. Tracking the local and international indirect changes and using them during the internal process. Provide guidance to Procurement, Accounts Payable, and Sales departments regarding the correct VAT application for complex transactions, including imports/exports and multi-jurisdictional projects. Maintain and document robust internal processes for indirect tax (SOX compliance), ensuring that the tax determination engine within the ERP remains accurate. Act as the primary point of contact for tax audits. Collect documentation, respond to queries from tax authorities, and implement corrective measures where necessary. Partner with IT and Finance teams to troubleshoot and improve the automated tax determination logic within ERP systems (e.g., SAP/Oracle/Vertex/Sabrix). Identify opportunities to automate manual data collection and reporting processes to increase efficiency and reduce human error. Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for VAT processes to ensure consistency across different business units or countries. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance related field Written and verbal fluency in English and other language Deep understanding of VAT principles (e.g., Place of Supply rules, Reverse Charge Mechanism, Input VAT recovery) Accounting knowledge Strong analytical skills Good communication and influencing skills; easily adapt to changes Desired Characteristics: Experience in a Global Business / Shared Service Center /Accounting Firm Working experience on local and / or international VAT regulations Advanced proficiency in Excel (for large data manipulation) and hands-on experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) Experience with tax software is a strong advantage Ability to work with complex data sets, identify anomalies, and perform root-cause analysis Ability to explain complex tax requirements to non-tax personnel clearly and concisely Strong sense of integrity regarding tax filings and reporting standards Additional Information Relocation Assistance Provided: No #LI-Remote - This is a remote position
