Onboarding
In short
Onboarding is the process of setting up a new hire with the tools, accounts, information, and introductions needed to start real work, typically covering the first days or weeks of a job.
Good remote onboarding replaces the in-person orientation an office gives you: it should cover account access, how the team communicates, documentation to read, and an early check-in with your manager. Ask for an onboarding plan before your start date — a remote role with no structured onboarding is a sign the team may be similarly loose about ongoing support.
