Background check

In short

A background check is a verification step an employer runs before or after an offer to confirm details like your identity, employment history, or education.

For international remote roles, background checks are usually run by a third-party verification service the employer hires, and what they check varies by country and role sensitivity — finance and healthcare roles tend to go deeper. You are normally asked to consent before a check runs — read what is being verified and ask questions if a request seems broader than the role requires.
