Is AI Replacing Humans? The Layoff Signal
We track layoff news from global and Indonesian-language sources in real time. What we see is not a one-directional trend:
- Global tech layoff signals remain elevated and stable (not accelerating)
- Indonesian-language layoff coverage has been consistently high across major business outlets for weeks
- Active job listings remain above 2,600 simultaneously
Conclusion: The market is churning, not collapsing.
Companies are simultaneously laying off mid-level roles and hiring for AI-augmented roles. The workers being displaced and the workers being hired are not the same people.

Where AI Is Weak — Human Advantage Zones
From real job descriptions, these requirements appear constantly — and AI cannot fulfill them:
1. Stakeholder trust and executive communication Every enterprise role specifies "align cross-functional teams," "present to C-suite," "build relationships." These require reading a room, not reading a prompt.
2. Physical world operations The single most active employer in our current dataset is in the energy/industrial sector — hiring field engineers, project managers, site specialists. AI doesn't install power infrastructure.
3. Clinical and regulatory judgment Healthcare and clinical research roles require sign-off authority, FDA/regulatory compliance, and liability. AI assists, humans sign.
4. Adversarial security thinking Cybersecurity firms are actively hiring because AI creates new attack surfaces. Human threat modeling against human adversaries is still required.
5. High-ACV sales relationships The final close on a $500K enterprise deal still happens between humans. AI handles prospecting and enrichment; trust closes the contract.
