Who we are Adaptive is a Vancouver-based managed IT services provider. We serve Canadian small and mid-sized businesses, with a focus on healthcare facilities, accounting firms, and law firms. Our YouTube channel publishes opinionated, plain-English explainers for non-technical business owners. Talking head is the core format, with b-roll layered in to keep the pace tight. The role We are hiring an ongoing freelance editor for one long-form video per week (5 to 10 minutes generally, finished). Footage is shot in a professional studio setup: single camera, clean audio, scripted delivery. You handle the full edit from raw to delivery. This is a real, ongoing relationship. We are not looking for a one-off. The right person stays with us indefinitely, and we will grow scope together as we publish more. Per-video deliverables Cut for pacing. Trim filler, tighten beats, remove dead air. Clean audio. Light denoise, level the speaker, fix breaths and clicks. Source and insert b-roll (we have accounts with Envato). Stock, screen captures (demos pre-captured), or simple visuals that support the script. We will brief you on what each segment is talking about. Light text on screen for technical terms, product names, and the occasional callout. Nothing flashy. We already have Mogrts for all our normal graphics. Infographics provided for each video already. Deliver a final H.264 or ProRes master, plus the Premiere project file. Out of scope by default: thumbnail design. If you offer any of those as add-ons, list them in your application with separate pricing. Cadence and turnaround One long-form video per week, ongoing. 3 to 5 business days from footage drop to first cut. One revision round expected per video. Usually small. Using Frame.io Style references Watch a few minutes of each before applying: Our channel: Microsoft Mechanics: . Clean, branded, restrained. Polished without being cold. Harris Heller: . Confident pacing, smart b-roll layering, friendly authority. Ed Lawrence / Film Booth: . Engaging cuts, smart visual support for talking head content. The look we want: memorable and business-grade. Polished but human. Confident without the corporate stiffness. Requirements English as a first language. Our content depends on you catching natural speech patterns, filler words, and small verbal flubs that a non-native ear can miss, and understand pop culture references. North American time zone (Pacific, Mountain, Central, or Eastern). We need reasonable real-time overlap for revisions. Premiere Pro. Project files need to stay portable across editors. Portfolio with talking-head business or educational content. If your reel is mostly weddings, music videos, or gaming highlights, this is not the right fit. Nice to have Experience integrating screen recordings (browsers, software demos, settings panels). Comfort with brand consistency across an ongoing series. Thumbnail design as an add-on service. Rate We are budgeting CAD $400 to $600 per finished video for an experienced editor delivering on the scope above. Open to a monthly retainer of CAD $1,600 to $2,400 for four videos a month if you prefer that structure. If your rate is materially different, pitch it and tell us why. How to apply Send your reel. Highlight talking-head business or educational work. Share two or three sentences on your edit philosophy for a 7-minute business explainer. Confirm your time zone, Premiere version, and typical turnaround. Shortlisted editors get a paid trial edit on a 10 to 15 minute raw segment from one of our recent shoots. We pay the trial rate whether or not we move forward. The trial edit we love gets the ongoing gig.
