We’re looking for an experienced packaging designer to help redesign packaging for a premium dog waste bag brand. The goal is to create packaging that feels modern, premium, and highly differentiated from the typical poop bag brands on Amazon, while still being practical for ecommerce, fulfillment, and future retail distribution. This is not just a “make it look nice” project. We need someone who can think strategically about packaging format, product positioning, Amazon click-through, shelf presence, cost efficiency, and real-world fulfillment. About the Product We sell premium dog poop bags that are: Extra thick Leak-proof Fully opaque Eco-conscious Designed to feel higher quality than the generic options currently on Amazon Most competitors use basic flat pack boxes. We are exploring a more differentiated packaging format, likely a stand-up pouch, but we are open to expert guidance. What We Need We need help developing a packaging system that works across multiple distribution channels: Amazon DTC ecommerce Subscription orders Chewy or similar online retailers Potential future retail shelves, such as Walmart, Target, or pet stores The packaging should be efficient to manufacture, easy to fulfill, and visually strong enough to stand out in Amazon search results. Scope of Work The project may include: Packaging format recommendation Stand-up pouch concept development Box vs pouch comparison Front and back packaging layout Amazon-first visual strategy Retail shelf considerations Color direction, such as matte black vs kraft Window vs no-window recommendation Barcode / FNSKU placement considerations SKU system thinking for multiple roll counts and scents Print-ready dieline design once format is finalized Mockups for Amazon listing images and brand presentation What We’re Exploring We are especially interested in packaging concepts that feel: Premium but not overly luxury Clean and bold Different from Earth Rated and other basic poop bag brands More like a modern utility product than a typical pet product Efficient for fulfillment and shipping Retail-compatible without being retail-dependent We want to avoid packaging that feels too much like dog treats, overly cute, cheap, cluttered, or generic eco packaging. Ideal Experience You’re a great fit if you have experience with: CPG packaging design Pet product packaging Amazon product packaging strategy Stand-up pouches, flexible packaging, or ecommerce packaging Retail-ready packaging systems Dielines and print production Designing packaging that balances brand, cost, and operations Experience with Amazon-first product design is a big plus. Deliverables Initial deliverables may include: Packaging strategy recommendation 2 to 3 visual packaging directions Front and back pouch or box concepts Mockups showing how the product would look on Amazon Final selected concept refined into print-ready packaging files Dieline-ready artwork for manufacturer production Brand Direction The brand voice is confident, modern, and slightly irreverent. We want the packaging to feel bold and memorable, but still trustworthy and professional enough for Amazon, Chewy, and future retail. Think: premium utility product, not cute pet aisle clutter. To Apply Please include: Relevant packaging design examples Any pet, CPG, ecommerce, or Amazon packaging experience Your thoughts on whether a stand-up pouch, box, or another format would be best for this type of product Estimated timeline Estimated project cost or milestones We are looking for someone who can bring both design taste and strategic packaging thinking to the project.
