We are looking for a product designer who combines exceptional visual craft with deep interaction design instincts and a genuine love of consumer products. You will be the sole designer on the product, with full ownership of how Wondr looks, feels, and moves, from the design system and component library through every screen a user sees. You will work directly with our CEO and Product Lead on product direction, and hand specs directly to engineering for implementation. This is a contract engagement that converts to a permanent full-time role at our next funding milestone. What You’ll Own Design System Own and evolve the Wondr design system: color palette, typography, iconography, spacing tokens, component library, and motion principles Deliver all design tokens as a Tailwind CSS theme config; engineering implements directly from your system Manage the Figma library as the single source of truth, with full mobile (375px) and desktop (1440px) coverage Product Screens Design all product screens and flows from product specs: onboarding, community creation and management, discovery, feed, participation mechanics, reputation and badges, creator dashboard, and analytics AI surfaces require particular care: these must feel intelligent and invisible, never bolted on. Think conversational onboarding, explainable discovery, insight panels, and smart moderation tools Creator monetization screens are high-stakes commercial surfaces; design directly affects conversion and must build trust at every step Every screen designed mobile-first at 375px with a desktop variant at 1440px, annotated with spacing, interaction behavior, and animation specs Motion and Interaction Define and maintain motion principles: easing, duration, and the overall feel of transitions and state changes Specify animations for moments that matter: earned achievements, AI responses revealing progressively, status changes, and celebratory moments Motion should be restrained and purposeful. The feeling we’re after is calm confidence, not gamified noise Visual Brand Steward the visual brand: logo usage, color system, typography, iconography, photography direction, and illustration style Design investor-facing and marketing materials as needed: pitch deck slides, one-pagers, and launch assets The Aesthetic Wondr should feel like a well-curated members’ club: warm but intentional, sophisticated but not cold, with a sense of earned belonging. Calm confidence. Participation feels like progress. AI feels intelligent and invisible. The products we study for craft: Apple Music and Fitness+ for premium card presentation. Airbnb for discovery UX and trust signals. Spotify for the emotional connection to personal data. Linear for pixel-level UI discipline. Cash App for bold, unmistakable brand identity. Arc Browser for delightful micro-interactions. Stripe Dashboard for beautiful data visualization. What We’re Looking For Required 4+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years on consumer-facing mobile products A portfolio that demonstrates both visual craft and interaction design: we need to see screens, motion, and systems, not just wireframes Expert-level Figma proficiency: auto-layout, variables, components, prototyping, and clean developer handoff Experience designing and maintaining a production design system, including delivering tokens to an engineering team Deep mobile-first design fluency: 375px constraints, touch targets, gesture patterns, and native conventions Thoughtful approach to AI surfaces: you have considered how to represent confidence, loading, explainability, and graceful fallback Tailwind CSS awareness: you design with utility-first constraints in mind, not against them Clear communication: you can articulate design decisions, give and receive product feedback, and document your work for engineering Nice to Have Experience in creator economy, community, or social platforms Motion design depth: you have shipped meaningful micro-interactions and can spec them precisely for CSS or Framer Motion Data visualization and dashboard design experience Investor deck or brand identity work in your portfolio Familiarity with shadcn/ui component primitives How We Work Product specs come from our CEO and Product Lead. Architecture decisions come from our Chief Architect. You own everything in between: how it looks, how it feels, and how it moves. Engineering implements directly from your Figma files. We work async-first, move in short cycles, and operate with high trust. There is no middle layer. The contract period is the proof-of-fit window. If we build well together, conversion to a full-time role is the natural outcome.
